Colorado’s own, Paul Sigafus, LMFT, earned his Certification from the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy last week. Paul is a beloved member of the Colorado EFT Community. He is a engaging man who approaches his E.F.T. work with a gentle heart and a soft, deft in session presence. Supervisees benefit from his depth of knowledge of Emotionally Focused Therapy, his clear articulation of important interventions, and the way he weaves use of self issues for therapists in to case consultation seamlessly.
Paul began his studies in E.F.T. in 2007, and has availed himself of every learning opportunity he could find. He’s helped at numerous Externships and Core Skills Trainings. Paul sought supervision from several trainers, and has presented at the Denver EFT Community Meeting.
He made a very important contribution to the EFT toolbox with his powerful reworking of the “Negative Cycle” commonly used in therapy. Paul’s “The Cycle versus the Heart” diagram captures this core relational dilemma in a powerful, useful image. It is now used by E.F.T. around the U.S., Canada and beyond.
He is also an avid entrepreneur, having built a thriving family therapy group practice in Centennial called the Colorado Counseling Center. Through this practice, Paul’s also mentors interns from local graduate programs, introducing them to Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy early in their careers. His vision is to continue creating an environment where clients and therapists alike can reach their full potential, and where everyone grows stronger together.
On behalf of all your colleagues in Colorado and beyond, we want to say how proud we are of you Paul, and how grateful we are to have you as a friend, a leader and a colleague in our community.
