A hearty and heartfelt congratulations to Colorado’s newest I.C.E.E.F.T. Certified E.F.T. Therapist, Dr. Jim Kemp! Jim approaches E.F.T. work with couples with grace and intensity. With a strong interest in men’s issues, Dr. Kemp focused early on in his career on providing therapy services, individual and group, to men. Over time, he saw that frequently men’s struggles centered on their close relationships with partners and in family. Naturally, he gravitated to couples therapy, and then found emotionally focused therapy.
Since participating in the Externship training in Colorado several years ago, Jim’s dedication to learning this model and understanding it deeply has been steadfast. Everyone in the Colorado Community and at the Colorado Center celebrate this achievement. Our Director, Jim Thomas, says of Dr. Kemp’s work, “He creates a safe, collaborative relationship with couples from the start. Jim works in a deliberate, authentic manner, inviting each partner to look at the cycle they are caught in and to explore underlying emotions in session.”
Jim continues to blend work on male issues with his couples therapy. He sees the difficulties many men face in being vulnerable, fearing being seen as weak or immature, and the power of a closer bond with their partner, gay or straight, to positively impact men’s health and well-being.
Join us in celebrating his earning E.F.T. Therapist certification. This accomplishment required additional training after the externship, individual supervision and sending two clips of his work with couples to the International Center for independent review.
