CCV and EFT

The Colorado Center is proud to be hosting a small group gathering of therapists regarding couples violence and EFT work.  This is open to therapists who have studied and use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy in their practice (minimum prerequisite of completion of EFT Externship).  Couples violence presents many challenges from assessment, to appropriateness of EFT, to treatment planning.

The authors of the recently published, peer-reviewed journal article, “Fighting for Connection: Patterns of Intimate Partner Violence,” (2018), Journal of Couple and Family Therapy, Jef Slootmaeckers & Lieven Migerode, will be leading this seminar.

This gathering, June 4th, will be from approximately 9 am until noon, with exact time and location to be confirmed at a later date.  Enrollment is limited.  The Center is paying the honorarium for our two esteemed presenters for this event, and the event will be a fundraiser (details to follow).  They will be joining us via Zoom from Belgium, as we gather together here in Colorado.

We will explore with our facilitators the issue of couples violence.  When is it appropriate or even preferred to provide couples therapy in these situations?  When is it contraindicated?  How can we create safety with the couple?  and how does CCV express in couple’s negative cycles?  This and more will be addressed.
